10 Ways My Life Has Changed Since Purchasing My Van Louise
A Celebration of My Three-Year Vanniversary!
By Trish Tassin, Nomadic Women curator
I have:
1. Grieved the loss of my entire birth family and learned to carry that grief forward.
2. Found the courage to rebuild my life after the necessary ending of my 30 year marriage.
3. Traveled thousands of miles solo, discovering places—and parts of myself—I never knew existed.
4. Lost 80 pounds and prioritized my health, gave up alcohol, and embraced a healthier lifestyle.
5. Learned to stop chasing and choose people who are also choosing me back.
6. Spent more time in nature, slowing down enough to appreciate its beauty and healing power.
7. Created The 30 Journeys, an independent publishing project focused on cultivating and sharing women’s authentic stories of growth and transformation on the open road—and funded it via a successful Kickstarter campaign.
8. Flexed my entrepreneurial muscles by recruiting and coordinating contributors, editors, designers, attorneys, and collaborators across the world; negotiating contracts and protected intellectual property rights; and facilitating the development of a website, marketing strategy, and book launch plan.
9. Learned to keep moving forward despite uncertainty, setbacks, and fear. Oh the fear!
10. Proved to myself that it is never too late to start over.
Three years ago, I bought a van. What I really purchased was a ticket to a completely different life.
Not bad for three years.
